Mental Health Awareness Month

Date: May 1, 2018 - May 31, 2018

Among the challenges so many of our families face is the struggle with mental illness. Perhaps it is their own illness that they struggle with, or the residual stress of being raised by a parent with untreated mental illness.

Old Mill Center works to help children thrive. That includes facing the challenge of mental illness head on.

Because:
  • 1 in 5 adults will experience mental illness
  • 20% of youth live with a mental health condition
  • 70% of youth in juvenile justice systems have a mental illness
  • 90% of those who die of suicide have an underlying mental illness
What can you do?
A child can thrive when:
  • His parents are thriving
  • He has the tools to manage the challenges of his strong feelings and behaviors
  • She knows that she is not alone in her fight
Children learn healthy behaviors from parents who are mentally healthy.

Help us in our work with mental illness. We can be stronger together.
Learn about the many ways you can support our programs.
